AIM BROTHERS SUMMER CAMP DECEMBER 2009 REPORT
Date: Friday 11 December – Sunday 13 December 2009
Place: Myuna Bay Sports and Recreation Centre
Alhamdulillah, around sixty young men attended the AIM Brothers Summer Camp at the Myuna Bay Sports and Recreation Centre. Most of the campers left the Punchbowl Musallah on the Friday morning while others left after jumuah. The program included sports (swimming, tennis, beach volleyball and footy); instructor supervised activities such as kayaking, ropes, giant swing and archery and short talks and lectures. The beach volleyball once again attracted the most serious competition of the camp.
The theme for the camp was “Live as a Believing Traveller” and centred on the four main topics of imaan (faith), akhlaaq (moral character), becoming a believing traveller and radicalism. The lectures/workshops were facilitated by Br Zachariah Matthews while the guest lecture was presented by Sh Shady Alsulaiman. Several short talks were given by brothers Eahab, Siddiq, Ahmed, Ali and Abdulfattah. The Saturday night introduction session was also a highlight of the camp with Br Faisal winning the prize for remembering the most number of campers’ names. The weather was good and the venue excellent.
Br Eahab Arja did an outstanding job of organising and leading the camp with the assistance of others. Alhamdulillah all the brothers left the camp with their faith renewed and motivated to take those small “baby” steps towards self improvement.
